Castle is a comedy drama that airs on ABC on monday nights. Nathan Fillion stars as Richard 'Rick' Castle, a famous mistery-crime novelist who is contacted by the detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic, Hana Gitelman of Heroes) of NYPD tho help solve a murder based on one of his novels. Castle, stuck on writers block after killing one of his famous characters and with a life overwhelmed by success, women and money that doesn't leave space for inspiration, decides to follow the investigations of Detective Beckett using her as muse for his new character. The two characters start to work together with comedy and romantic tension.
I usually don't start watching a new police drama series, because I always end up annoyed and going back to CSI New York. I'm a tv junkie but so dull, I don't like changes, especially in police dramas. But this time I was drawn by the presence of Nathan Fillion, one of my favs of all time (yes, I am a Whedonholic). And I can tell you with pleasure, that I loved the pilot and loved every single episode aired 'til now. It's not about the crimes (they're are so predictable), it's not about the suspence (there's none), it's not about the original plot (I think that it's the most used plot in history), it's all about the chemestry. Yes, that's right. The chemestry. Between Castle and Beckett, between Castle and his daughter, between the cops and Castle. Here is the proof that good casting exists and that it can keep a show at a superior level even if the story isn't anything special. Most of the job is done by the adorable and funny as hell Fillion, the writers did the best they could to abuse of his talent to amuse people with his looks and sense of humour. When they wrote Castle they only had him in mind, it's so obvious.
Cast:
Hurray for good casting!! all parts are written with a very distinctive personality and the all connect wonderfully toghether, you don't need many ideas when you've got this chemistry
Why watch it:
giggles! giggles! giggles!...oh...and handsome genius of Nathan Fillion (I would watch even a infomercial if he was in it!)
Quote:
Alexis: How come we never had a nanny?
Castle: Well, your mother and I decided if someone was going to screw you up, we wanted it to be me. Only, you managed to turn out fine somehow anyway.
